Honesty...

Is honesty always the best policy? What if it hurts another person?

Would you hide the truth to salvage another person's feelings or do you tell the truth no matter what?

Is there a such thing as being too honest with someone else?

    Funny cause sometimes I wonder if I should tell you know who about you know who LOL...then again he was still confused so what's the point.

    I think that if you love someone and you know that it would benefit them knowing the truth then tell them but if it doesn't matter either way I guess it doenst matter

    I try to be as honest as I can with the people in my life. Unless I know something that is really going to hurt them I choose honesty first, but I do try to soften the blow.

    I don't know if honesty is always the best policy but I think it usually is a good one. Sometimes the truth hurts, if that is the case I do my best to soften the blow. However, an open hand can hurt as much as a closed fist, I've learned.

    Would I hide the truth to salvage another person's feelings? It depends on the person and the situation. I've had people hide things from me to "protect" my feelings and I felt betrayed and more hurt by it. Hurt by whatever it is they didn't tell me and hurt by the fact that they knew and kept it from me. In general I'd most likely tell them anyway and hope they know my intentions are honorable.

    Again it depends on the person but yes, there is such a thing as being too honest with someone.

    i wonder this often.. i think that if someone asks you a question.. you should always answer it honestly.. if it's something that someone should probably know, but it might hurt their feelings to know... unless they ask about it.. i usually dont offer any info about it!

    It's all in the way you say what you say

    I'll tell the truth, but again, it's how I say it. Or even how I preface it.

    Yeah, like if you don't find someone attractive and they ask you how they look. It's one thing to say your preferences lye elsewhere, it's another thing to say that and list each and every flaw! LOL That's too much! LOL

    Because most lies are too hard to maintain and usually gets bigger and bigger with time....

    I think honesty is almost always the best option.

    I always say that when people are informed they can make a choice and life is always about choices.

    In a relationship I tell the truth 85% of the time, I mean sometimes people don't want to be told the truth like "do i look fat in these jeans?" --Babygirl if u got to ask you already know. So, in this instance I would lie..

    now, if someone ask me are you seeing such and such or sleeping with someone else- I would tell the truth..

    the truth is a strange thing- it hurts on both sides. it hurts to tell the truth and hurts to be told the truth.. it is really hard and hurtful to tell someone they look a hot mess when u know they are going to be upset. --


    no such thing as being too honest..

    truth hurts

    The truth hurts, and after hurt comes healing. Lies (holding back truth) prolongs a situations outcome.

    I have also been told that I am too honest and truthful. I use to just "call a spade a spade", but I did heed mom's advice that "it's not what you say but how you say it." That was a very valuable lesson learned that had stuck with me.

    But that has always been my policy in life. I am telling the truth no matter what. Telling someone a lie deprives them of a choice. And telling someone what they want to hear does no good either.
