Pick Up the Phone!

The electronic leash that I carry everyday drives me crazy! I never answer my cell phone when I am out. I normally turn the ringer off, and just carry it with me in case of an emergency. But my man loves to talk on the phone...TO ME! I know I shouldn't be complaining, because if he's talking to me, I know he's not talking to anyone else...But I HATE talking on the phone!

I love talking to him, in person. I don't mind the phone from time to time. The conversation that he gives me is interesting...I love the way even the smallest things excite him. I just personally am not a cell phone person. I like to talk, just not all the time...Everywhere I go. His motto is, why have a cell phone if you are not going to use it? This phone situation is starting to become a problem...And I have to stop this s*** ASAP!

The weather has been wonderful here, so he decided that he wanted to go on a picnic. Being that I am an asthmatic, my daughter and I are allergic to almost everything, and Spring is in the air, we have to be cautious.

After my daughter and I take our allergy medicine, and with my inhaler in tow, we get in my car to leave for his place, where he is waiting for us. He is punctual. Always! So I leave early to make it to his place on time. My daughter is a very picky eater, and I am not sure what he has packed for us to eat, so I decide to stop by the store and pick up a few of her favorite things. Being that I am almost an hour ahead of schedule, I didn't really see a problem with it. While I am in the store Mr. Punctuality(My Boo) calls me to see if we have left. Of course, my phone is in the car and I am in the store.

When I get out of the store 30 minutes later, I return his call. I never go straight to one destination. I always find something else that I need to do on the way to where I am supposed to be. He knows this, and that was the purpose of his call. He wanted to make sure that I was on my way to his place. I could tell that he was a little upset, be he didn't say it. I could feel it. I told him that I was on my way. He called again before I got there, just to make sure that I didn't make any pit stops...

I made it to his place on time and he is all smiles.

This is not the first incident that we have had with the cell phone. It is a constant disruption to my everyday life. People call me all day long, and I talk to them, whenever I check my phone. It's just me.

My question is, should I compromise me, and keep the phone with me to avoid future problems with my Boo, or should I just continue to do what I have been doing? Is that selfish of me to not care about people trying to get in touch with me?I know it sounds petty, but when you don't have any serious problems in your relationship, the smallest things turn into the biggest problems!

How do you feel about cell phones?

no you should compromise.. you should just explain to him your deal w/ cell phones and eventually he'll get the hint.. or at least understand when you dont answer the phone..

and i feel you on the whole no real problems, make the smallest thing a big deal!

My cell is for emergency only and most folks don't have the number anyway so I can't relate to your problem. But I agree with TTD, tell him how you feel about it.

When I think about cell pphones I have to say *hold on a minute my cell is ringing* Ok I'm back...no LOL no on the real I actually carry both of them everywhere (yes I said both and let me explain) I have a t-mobile that I use when the minutes are free. And then I have a metropcs that I use ALL THE TIME. Why? Because it is a flat fee 57.00 a month no matter how much I use it who/where I call or text. I found that you can only find MetroPCS in Atlanta, San Francisco Bay area and Ft. Lauderdale Fl. What's the catch? They can only be used in the city you live in(although you can call anywhere with them) not good for traveling. I have a long commute so I alternate between meditating and talking on the phone. I have busted a U-turn to go get my phone.

I love my cell phone. I use it all the time. Being that my sisters and my mom don't live in town with me, it save me ALOT on th elong distance charges!

I'm actually with you Luvin...I ABSOLUTELY hate my cell phone. I figure that it's MY phone and I'll use it at MY discretion. I, too, see my phone as available for MY emergency use when I am out and about. I am so not the type of person to be chattin' while I shop, or pump gas, or while I drive ALL THE WAY to my destination...it's just TOO much!

I agree totally with TTD...you shouldn't compromise, you should let him know how you feel about the cell phone/usage so that he knows.

i swear to god you are the female version of me. I'm notorius for not answering my damn phone. I hate talking on the phone especially when people dont have sh#t to say. It annoys me but now I tell people up front "I'm not a phone person" so they dont take it personal when i dont pick up the phone. Luckily my partner is the same way so we dont have issues around it. Damn I'm really gagging on how much we're alike.
